Oosterweel Scheldt Tunnel Project
Asterix & Obelix Immersion Pontoons
MOHL Engineering was in charge of the design and constructibility review, construction methodology development, and site supervision of the Asterix and Obelix immersion catamarans for the Scheldt tunnel project.
Our role bridged engineering and onsite execution, ensuring alignment between design intent and operational delivery, contributing to the successful on-time and within-budget delivery of the immersion pontoons.
MOHL Engineering was assigned by Immontec for the mobilisation and demobilisation of the immersion pontoons for the landmark Oosterweel Scheldt Tunnel project in Belgium. On this major infrastructure development, appointed by the government stakeholder Lantis, the main contractor consortium TM COTU entrusted Immontec with the critical tunnel immersion phase. Working directly under Immontec, our team provided specialised engineering support and site supervision. Our scope included conducting design and constructability reviews, developing construction methodologies, and overseeing on-site operations for the mobilisation and demobilisation of Asterix and Obelix immersion pontoons.

Weserquerung Bremen Tunnel Project
Horizontal winching system design & immersion support
MOHL Engineering was assigned by Immontec for the mobilisation and demobilisation of the immersion pontoons for the landmark Oosterweel Scheldt Tunnel project in Belgium. The scope includes structural design, stability assessment, equipment integration, and mobilisation oversight to support safe and controlled tunnel element immersion.
